The winner is selected by an interdisciplinary, international and 100% independent jury. 2014 A MAZE. extended the award to three categories and the audience award. 2015 we’ve introduced our fourth category the "Other Dimensions Award” which is dedicated to play in virtual reality. The trophy consists out of three independent elements: a pink silicone cube, a metal ball and a concrete socket. Thorsten S. Wiedemann, the artistic director of A MAZE. explains: "The pink silicon stands for interactivity and playfulness, the concrete socket for culture and meaning, and the embedded metal ball for connectivity and completeness."

The categories are: “Most Amazing Game Award”, “Human Human Machine Award”, “WTF?! Award”, “Other Dimensions Award (VR)” and the “Audience Award”.

A MAZE. Program

Interaction is not only about presentation but also about sharing, learning, and exchanging: Invited artists will teach best practices in technology and creativity for artistic and media practices. Focusing on the convergence of digital art, experimentations and games, the talks and workshops provide the artists and developers the opportunity to present projects, artists philosophies as well as discuss and reflect upon them with audience members. 2016 we are keen to also take a journey to science and into more technology subjects.
